Re: [MW:4479] Low OCV of welding machine

Dear Mr. Gupta

The Machine may be in Energy Saving or Low OCV mode, which is used as an safety feature. Technically that should be below 24V so that it does not harm any person. When you strike the electrode to the ground, it senses and puts the OCV back to needed 60 / 80 Volts. 

In our machines SigmaWeld Welding Inverters this is an inbuilt feature specially applicable for Manual Metal Arc welding. We reduce the OCV to 20 Volts and when we sense the arc strike (output short between the two terminals) we bring back the ocv to the  designed levels.

I am finding one welding rectifier has got low ocv. It is 5v..... If it is this much what is the idea behind this less OCV and Its advantage.....and application.....
Its model no. is UWR 303 of UNITOR....

Hi,  You are correct, Minimum refers to the one cycle for which this part will expose until final work shop PWHT. hence mill test certificate shall include this.  Max. SPWHT, refers to additional cycles of heat treatment that are reserved for future repairs during equipment lifetime.  Again, these simulated no.
