Re: [MW:4004] RE: 3998] Re: WELDING CONSUMABLE FOR SMAW & SAW API 5L X 70

Thank you for  information.  I have selected electrode 9010 P1 and for SAW i selected EA4F92 to be confirmed with supplier.

G classification can be selected based on their data sheet for intended application (i.e. if specified for for X 70), as the properties will vary from each brand/batch.
For e.g. E 8010-G branded as Shield Arc 70+ by Lincoln electric may be used for this grade or you can use specific electrodes suffixed as P1 intended for pipeline application such as E 8010-P1, better to contact your consumables supplier for available choices.
E8018 C3 may be used if you need impact testing.
PWHT depends on your thickness and the code of construction

Your choice of selection for SMAW is not suitable for a joint where back chipping to sound metal not possible.
Regarding SAW better to contact you r consumable supplier for suitable wire/flux combination, as choice between EA series with 1/2 Mo Vs EM2

PWHT for API pipe qualification will be as per ASME B31.3. Upto 19mm thickness PWHT is not required.

wht consumable should be used for welding 34CrMo4 sprocket with forged shaft of Fe540 grade.
Currently I m using XHD 2222 eutectic make which is highly expensive. Can I have an alternative for it. ??
