Re: FW: [MW:4132] Preparation of WPS

Dear Mr. Gopu,

Please note the following, often when you order materials according to
EN 10025 in the quality S355J2G3 the certificate also mentioned the
ASTM reference for this material, in this case ASTM A516 Grade 70. So
take a look at the original material certificate and see if this ASTM
material is mentioned as well, if so than the material is no longer an
unassigned material and problem is solved. If mentioned on the
certificate you should ask Lloyd's Register to mention both materials
on their PQR to avoid future discussions with clients and / or local
inspectors. When A516 is mentioned on the certificate you may also ask
Lloyd's Register to use the results you already gained to draw up a
PQR according to ASM section IX, this because all the tests required
for ASME IX are already executed for the original qualification. Only
thing that should be checked is the dimensions of the tensile test
specimens if those met the requiremens of ASME, if not you could test
some additional specimens if spare material is left. If not you should
weld a test plate with similar parameter as original test weld to
perform only the tensile test on it.

Best Regards,

Herman Pieper
