[MW:4010] RE: 4006] cutting of 90 deg elbow in to 45 deg elbow

You may use S58 as per SA960 for special dimensions, however you may note that only fittings ends are calibrated to the bore diameter, hence in the middle (when you cut) you may get an oval shape resulting a mismatch with the bore of an adjoining component

Piping designers often ignore this (as they will have to generate new commodities for 30°, 45° etc.) instead they assume that 90 ° can be cut into the required angle at site and this is one of the major issue during fabrication

Subject: [MW:4006] cutting of 90 deg elbow in to 45 deg elbow

hi,

I am new to this group. In our project we have one problem. For shortage of 45 deg elbow, they want to cut the 90 deg factory made seamles elbow ( 52" size) in to 45 deg elbow. Is this allowed by the code or any restriction in the code. For this which code we should refer. please help me in this issue.

regards,

Gulam Kader
