Don't go that way :-)
There is a reason that the GTAW is used as root welding combined with SMAW all over the world.
of course it can be done, depending on the you or your clients expectation to the quality level of the root.

Hi there,

 

One of our manager wants to Develop WPS for SS which can utilize SMAW –root. I do not see it is common in SS welding. But there may be something can make us competitive against GTAW root.

 

Does anybody have thought to share with me?
