[MW:3112] Re: Hydrotest for high pressure piping

Tong

You have a provision in ASM B31.3  to a closure weld as per 345.2.3 C.
Please ensure all the requirements of in process examination are carried out as per 344.7

Dear Kural,
We use B31.3 as our construction code. This spool is additional to existing line. We made some modification on it.

what is the applicable code 31.3 or 31.1 or something else. is it in construction or the system is in service.

It is common to practice as a closure weld (similar to tie in) in b31.3 in construction/ inservice.

Dear All,
I have one tie-in point. The material is SA 312 TP316L. The test pressure is 350 bar and operating pressure is 250 bar. The big problem is there are no isolation point so hydrotest can't be performed on it. When I refer to API 570, clause 8.2.6 stated that when a pressure test is not necessary or practical, NDE shall be utilized in lieu of a pressure test. Due to this line is high pressure, is it enough only perform the NDT ? How suppose i do to convince our management level regarding integrity of the weldment ? Please help me. Thank in advance and you cooperation is highly appreciated
