Can anyone please advise if A welder who is qualified to;
Construction Code: ASME IX 2002
Acceptance Code : ASME B31.3 2006 Tier 1
Welding Process GTAW
Position 6G
Thickness: Sch 40/ 3.991mm
Diameter : 50
Material: ASTM A316
qualified to weld to an acceptance code of ASME B31.1 with the same welding process, position, material as that of ASME B31.3? I understand he cannot.If so what is the parameter change that disqualifies him to weld to the Higher Welding Code.What actually differs that needs to be changed on a WPS for him to be requlified to ASME B31.1, is it the acceptance code only or there are some other parameters that matters.
On a different view what would prevent a Coded welder to ASME B31.1 Stainless 316L TIG Welder in 6G Position to weld in a welding requirrement of ASME B31.3, if the welding process, material, Position are all the same.
Please advise.
Thank you
Nia
