i assume your querry is for impact tested materail. for basemetal qualification only ASME IX is suffiecient. howevver in addition to this production test coupons are required as per B 31.3 (if production weld thickness is out range).
if you don't want to weld seperate PTC, you may follow the thickness range given in B31.3 to write a WPS.
