[MW:1876] Re: Effect of Silicon in welding 420 Stainless Steel

Weldability of SS420, in itself, is poor due to higher levels of C and
Cr. It gives severe cracking problem. We have to be very careful about
preheating.

We are adding problems with adding more Si into it, as Si is also a
Ferrite former.
