[MW:1589] Re: Mix up of A106 Gr.B and A336 Gr.6 pipes

Dear Mr. Reddy,
You can segregate these material by XRF PMI test with ease.
A 106 Gr. B -
Cr = 0.40
Ni = 0.40

 A336 Gr. F6
Cr = 11.5 - 13.5
Ni = 0.40

See the difference in Chromium percentage. Set the XRF PMI for NI & Cr detection.

If you are interested in another NDE method for segregation. The best suitable method is " Eddy current Testing"
You can segregate these two item due to difference in their conductivity.

Dear Friends,

When A106 Gr.B and A336 Gr.6 pipes are physically mixed up and mill identification/ stencilling was lost during painting on external surface. Since both are CS materials, segregation by PMI (i.e by X-Ray spectrometer or by Gamma ray) is not possible.

Is there any other NDE method to segregate/ identify them to the respective material specification.
